Let’s make a telescope with your kids!

A telescope is expensive tool to observe moon, the stars, and etc.
However we can easily make the telescope.

At first, we should prepare two magnifying glasses (A, B).
Glass (A) can attach to the distal position.
Larger lens (A) is desirable.

Glass (B) can attach to the proximal position.
On the other hand, smaller lens (B) is desirable.

Attach these lenses to rectangle or circled pasteboards as shown in the photo.

Assemble a telescope as shown here.

Be in a focus adjusting the difference between two lenses.
Although you can see it is upside down through the hand-made telescope, I think you are surprised at the ability of it.

What did you see through these lenses?

Hope you and your kids enjoy the exam.

Let’s make a couple of coins shine!

Japanese 10-yen makes of copper.
Old 10-yen coins are often oxidized, and the color is dark blown.
In this photo, left is new coin in 2012, middle one is in 1974, and right one is in 1966.

Let’s make these coins shine.

We prepared two liquids.
One is squeezed juice of a lemon.
Other one is vinegar.

After these coins are sunk in two liquids, wait 3 minutes.

You can observe the clean coin which was sunk in the lemon juice.
However, the coin in vinegar is unchanged.

8 hours later
You can observe the efficacy of vinegar.

24 hours later
Right black blown is a non-sunk coin.
The effect of deoxidization is fantastic.

Hope you and your kids enjoy the exam.

Let’s dissolve an eggshell

Let’s dissolve an eggshell in vinegar water.

It takes a couple of days until the unshelled egg.
Can you see the air bubble around the egg?

1 day later, the eggshell is dissolved a little.

5 day later, the eggshell is dissolved completely.

Awesome result! The eggshell was dissolved completely. We can observe the beautiful transparent semipermeable membrane.

Look the photo which compared with a raw egg.
The transparent egg was bigger.
When we observe it through the light, the beauty was the best!

Hope you and your kids enjoy the exam!

Firstly, two balloons were inflated without helium gas.
Secondly, the balloons rubbed on the carpet to generate static electricity.

Thirdly, the balloons were attached on the ceiling.

Non-leakage nylon bag?

Impale water filled nylon bag on a sharp pencil!
However, do not leak the water.

Can you succeed the exam?

To tell the truth, it’s easy exam.

Impale water filled nylon bag on a sharp pencil.
The pencil can easily pierce the nylon bag, however, the water does not leak at all.

Why? It’s marvelous. If you pull the pencil out, the water leaks with great force.
Hope you and your kids enjoy the exam.

Let’s observe an infrared light in your living room

We human can’t observe the infrared light through our eyes.
However, it’s easy to solve this problem.

Let’s use digital camera and a remote controller for TV, DVD player or air conditioner.
The remote controller irradiates the infrared light to send the signals.
At first, when the switch is off, the infrared light is NOT observed.

Secondly, when the switch is ON, your eyes do NOT catch the light.

Thirdly, when the switch is ON, digital camera can detect the light, and you can observe it.

It's very interesting.
There is the invisible light in our world.

Hope you and your kids enjoy the exam

Let’s play two polarizing plates with your kids

Pile up two polarizing plates on the table.
Rotate upper plate 45 degrees or 90 degrees, and observe the strength of light.

Next, pile up a polarizing plate on the monitor.
The monitor of PC and cellular phone is suitable to observe the phenomena.
If the strength of light is changed according to the angle of plate, the similar
polarizing plate is embedded in the monitor.

Lastly, sellotape on the acrylic plate as you like.
Multi-angle, multiple sellotapes are preferred to this exam.
Sandwich the acrylic plate between two polarizing plates.

Let’s observe the created fantastic lights.

Hope you and your kids enjoy the exam.

Let’s make an air bazooka using corrugated cardboard with your kids.

It’s easy to make it.

A hole is created on a box of corrugated cardboard as show in this photo.
A packing tape is preferred to keep the box rectangle.

Press the box quickly to shoot the air bazooka and check the air bullet.
I can recommend that the target is very light such as paper or so.
Next, fill the box with smoke to observe the air bullet.
You can learn more in this Dr. Denjirou's movie site.

Let’s make the primary colors by using three flashlights.

Three colors of cellophanes (red, green and blue) are required to change the colors of lights.

Affix these color cellophanes to the flashlights as shown in the photo.

You can make the red, green and blue lights.

The primary colors can be combined to make various colors.

Let’s enjoy the combination as follows.
Red + Green = Yellow
Green + Blue = Cyan

Red + Blue = Magenta
Red + Green + Blue = White

Note the combination of the primary colors (Red + Green + Blue) is NOT black.
